For the uninitiated, distressed sneakers fresh out of the box are all the rage right now – and Italian fashion label Golden Goose Deluxe Brand is the brand to know.

Established in 2000 with headquarters in Venice, Italy, the Golden Goose Deluxe Brand is the brainchild of husband-and-wife team Alessandro Gallo and Francesca Rinaldo. Gallo and Rinaldo started with ready-to-wear, then seven years later in 2007, ventured into footwear.

It was their sneakers that catapulted them to fashion fame. The allure of a pair of Golden Goose sneakers is in its perfect imperfections. Unlike your pristine white Stan Smiths or Supergas, Golden Goose sneakers are designed to look super worn-in, as each pair is handmade and purposely scuffed up to look like you’ve owned them for years. Handmade by a team of artisans in Venice, no two pairs are alike. The sneakers are made from soft Italian leather, and details such as frayed suede, glitter or embellishments make these shoes even more covetable.

One of the brand’s best sellers the Superstar, have garnered a huge following from the likes of street style stars like The Man Repeller’s Leandra Medine to Hollywood royalty Gwyneth Paltrow and fashion designers like Off-White’s founder Virgil Abloh. In fact, Abloh is such a fan, he even collaborated with Golden Goose last year to launch a sneaker collection. Abloh explains his love for the sneaker brand, “It’s the handmade, distressed touch that makes them unique.”

While the brand’s footwear sports a vintage and distressed look, its ready-to-wear has a more classic meets streetwear vibe. Think everyday separates like a striped long-sleeved top or a cotton-blend turtleneck blouse paired with distressed jeans but layered with a tailored double-breasted textured-wool coat. The combination of Golden Goose’s traditional Italian craftsmanship coupled with a cool sensibility presents a brand aesthetic that is trendy, effortless and timeless.

The high-end fashion label is forging ahead with an international presence for their first ever pop-up space in Southeast Asia at Pedder on Scotts, Scotts Square, Singapore.

The 1,700 square feet space features minimalist marble flooring, warm-hued fabric covered walls, and a customised sneaker display on aged-effect brass shelves. The addition of the Golden Goose pop-up will blend in perfectly with Pedder on Scott’s dynamic mix of over 100 established designer and emerging brands. The Singapore pop-up stocks the brand’s full range of ready-to-wear, footwear, bags and accessories from Fall/Winter 2017. Ready-to-wear start from $260 for a T-shirt and go over $2,000 for a double-breasted wool coat. Footwear start from $530, bags from $360 for a pouch, and accessories from $85 for a pair of socks.

Golden Goose Deluxe Brand at Pedder on Scotts is now open from 10am to 9pm daily.
