The Fall Fenty Puma by Rihanna collection

So it seems that Rihanna’s third instalment with Puma is her favourite. “I’ve never been in love with a collection more than this one,” says Rihanna of her Fall Winter 2017 collection.

The singer returned to Paris to show her collegiate-inspired Fenty University collection, fittingly shown at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (the National French Library). She stayed true to her glam-meets-grunge street style aesthetic.

The bad girl of pop who rewrote the rule book of good girl uniform classics with a rebel twist said,
“I wanted the entire collection to be very diverse. I wanted different silhouettes, I wanted small silhouettes, I wanted huge silhouettes, I wanted colour, stripes, plaid; I wanted to play around, and I felt like a back-to-school theme was the best way to do that.”

There were many trendy highlights that were in line with the season puffy oversized jackets, traditional checked patterns, velvet separates and knee high boots to name a few. Rihanna also displayed her penchant for exaggerated details like extra-long sleeves on a zip-front dress and several pullover styles. There were the supersized varsity jackets and coats in faux sherling and fur. Personal touches include her lucky number 13 and badges representing her birth year 1988 on tops, pullovers and dresses. Keeping it real with the school theme, the models (and Rihanna herself) emerged from behind rows of blue lockers and strutted down the long desks in the library hall, looking super cool and armed with an air of defiance.

Rihanna’s sexy signature style is amplified through a variety of cropped tops to a plunging V-neck jersey knit body-hugging jumpsuit.

Once again she does not disappoint with the footwear. Her popular platform sneakers receives a fresh update with an even chunkier work boot sole, and rendered in a multitude of styles.

She’s reworked the traditional sneaker with an ankle strap available for both men and women. There is also a more practical version of the killer stiletto thigh-highs she introduced at her debut collection by way of a sleek midi-heel sock boot — a style that’s also a huge trend in the boot department this season.

Riri’s gig with Puma is obviously a match made in heaven given the consistently positive reviews and loyal celebrity following. If this style chameleon continues to channel herself authentically through her collections, this partnership looks set to be rockin’ for a long time.

The Fenty X Puma by Rihanna collection is available from mid September onwards.
